A classic - Go on an unique tour to Kungsholms fort, which has defended the entrance to the city in the archipelago since the late 17th century.
Kungsholms fort has been of great importance to the military of Sweden and it has been manned for over 300 years. The fort has been ready for battle a couple of times, such as when the Russians were closing in on Sweden during the battle of Svensksund in the late 18th century. It was also a bit worrisome for the swedes when the Englishmen were cruising around the Baltic sea in the early 19th century.
It’s been a while since the fort were in its prime as a strategic defensive fortification and the activity on the fort has been reduced in comparison to what it once was. But today the fort is providing us with the opportunity to experience something extraordinary. With its unique rundhamn, museum and botanic garden with plants and trees from all over the world, the fort is a hit for all ages and nationalities.
